Nokia Thailand shared key business highlights for 2009 and its direction for 2010. The year of 2009 marked another successful year for Nokia Thailand with clear market leadership.
Globally, as announced on 28th January 2010, Nokia's estimated mobile device market share for Q4 2009 stood at 39% , up from an estimated 37% in Q4 2008. The full year 2009 estimated market share was 38%. Nokia's share of the total market device volume of 1.14 billion was 432 million units. Nokia shipped more converged mobile devices 67.8 million units in 2009, compared with 60.6 million units in 2008.
"Despite a tough 2009, Nokia remains a strong market leader in Thailand both in sales volume and value", said Mr.Shumit Kapoor, General Manager, Nokia (Thailand) Ltd. "Nokia sold millions of entry devices lead by the popular Nokia 1202. In the touch category, we made excellent progress due to the immense popularity of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia 5530XpressMusic. The Nokia Nseries and Eseries also achieved strong sales in the smart phone category winning the hearts & minds of business users as well as technology geeks. In fact, Quarter 4 was the best quarter of 2009 in terms of devices & services net sales, volumes and margins. We grew our market share in smartphones in the fourth quarter, driven by the successful launch of new touch and QWERTY models. Nokia has clearly benefitted from the improving economy as well as the strength of its brand position"
Mr. Kapoor added, "In the fourth quarter 2009, Nokia mobile device volumes globally were 126.9 million units, up 12% year on year and up 17% sequentially. Nokia grew its converged device market share to an estimated 40%, from an estimated 35% in Q3 2009. For Asia Pacific, Nokia mobile device volume is 34.5 million in Q4 up 15.4% year on year and 13.3% quarter on quarter."
In 2009, Nokia Thailand received several awards including;
• Excellent Brand Survey Awards 2009: Conducted by the Hard Ware Magazine (HWM), the survey reached 5,000 respondents who picked Nokia as the winner.
• Computer Today Award 2009: Nokia was voted the most admired brand in Mobile phone category by the Computer Today magazine readers.
• Best Urban Brand Royalty: Nokia was voted the most engaged brand (55.68%) by the Business.com magazine readers.
• HiSo Party Award 2009: Nokia won the Most Popular Vote Party of The Year from the launch event of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.
• Most Admired Company: Nokia was selected the Most Admired Company in Communications industry by the Brandage Essential magazine.
• Thailand's Superbrands 2009: Nokia awarded Thailand's Superbrands 2009.

Pioneering new ways for the world to experience music, Nokia unveiled today the new Nokia X6, an ultimate device for music lovers and social butterflies. And to enhance consumers' music experience, Nokia introduced today 'Come Play Together' campaign by offering playful activities to consumer. The Nokia X6 will be available in early February 2010 at a retail price of Bt 14,900.
During the year, Nokia will be working with AIS for the upcoming Nokia N900 launch. Nokia will also work closely with local developers to bring innovative applications and services to users.
Nokia wil also continue to enhance its after sales and care service by opening new 5 Nokia Care Centers plus 39 Nokia Care points nationwide. Nokia has introduced the 'Nokia Experience Center' to provide hands on workshop for consumer and software upgrade for free.
