LG celebrates success of 'LG Entertainer'


Official LG Entertainer winner meets the press; LG reveals how this unique entertainment marketing strategy is successfully enhancing the LG brand amongst Thai customers

LG Electronics (Thailand) announced the success of its 'LG Entertainer' reality TV show - a music talent contest designed to escalate brand bonding with Thai consumers by reinforcing awareness of the LG brand and positioning LG as an identifiable premium brand with innovative products enriching life. It also serves as a CSR activity. With the winner revealed during an exciting live final last night, LG, in association with Korean Entertainment Leader - JYP Entertainment - will now support the winner on the exciting journey that lies ahead of them in the entertainment industry.

During a press conference held today at Siam Paragon, where the LG Entertainer winner was joined by top management from LG, JYP Entertainment and Korean pop-stars 2PM, Mr. Hyun Woo (Howard) Lee, Managing Director, LG Electronics (Thailand) Co. Ltd. said, "With a goal of becoming a leading top-of-mind brand, LG has a vision of enriching people's lives through our LG innovation and technology. The LG Entertainer contest was established as one part of our ongoing entertainment marketing efforts. We have been very pleased with the fantastic response that the show has received over the past five months, both from contestants and viewers and we are confident this will translate into greater awareness, preference and loyalty to the LG brand in Thailand. LG is proud to support the LG Entertainer program and we hope that the program inspires more Thai people to find their talents and achieve their dream."

LG Entertainer debuted on Modern Nine TV in September 2009. The talent contest became an instant hit, with higher contestant and viewer numbers than other programs in similar categories. In total, 3,000 team contestants (or up to 10,000 people) - both single and group entrants - took part and 36 million viewers watched the show nationwide. After much heated competition, eight finalists made it to the live final stage on January 31st, with Mook - Natthicha Chomdee receiving the highest number of votes and becoming the eventual LG Entertainer winner.

The winner's prize includes one million baht and a trip to South Korea, where they will take 2 months an intensive training program with JYP Entertainment. They will also release an online singles with JYP and have their own album released in Thailand.

Revealing how it feels to win the contest, the winner said, "I am so happy and proud of my success today. LG Entertainer differs from other contests in that it is open to contestants with any type of talent and it has been a life-changing opportunity for me. The experience I have already gained from the show, combined with that which lies ahead during the training with an industry leader like JYP in Korea is very precious. I'd like to thank LG for their support and for creating this show, which has made my dream come true."

The 'LG Entertainer' music talent contest is opened to contestants with any talent in singing, dancing or playing musical instruments, also wider age range unlike other music reality programs. The program is a collaboration between LG Electronics (Thailand), Have A Good Dream, MCOT and JYP Entertainment.
