Auntie Cheng's devotion to bio-fermented liquids arose from her recovery from a serious illness after taking Dr Rosukon Poompanvong's alternative medical treatments, emphasising natural products and enzymes.
This rich businesswoman rented and ran a cable television channel "Super Cheng" and also acted as programme host herself to promote bio fermented liquids and give lectures. She often told her audiences she preferred teaching people to ferment liquids themselves rather than go out and buy them.
She appeared on the Thai television channel 5's Jor-Jai show to talk about her role as a cable TV businesswoman and TV host.
In April 2006, she battled with columnist Nitipoom Nawarat over an alleged "debt problem". After Nitiphum won a Bangkok senate seat with some 100,000 votes, an audio clip of Auntie Cheng talking with Nitiphum was released on Web sites, suggesting that Nitiphum owed money to Auntie Cheng.
Nitiphum later explained that he once worked with Auntie Cheng in the Balance Film and Balance Star companies for three months, after which he sold his shares following business problems.
Nitiphum filed a libel complaint against those who released the clip and the matter faded from public attention - until now, as his old rival faces charges of producing the bio fermented liquids without a licence.
