The 7th Kom Chad Luek Awards saw the rising of independent artist with "Citizen Juling", a documentary examining troubles in the deep South by Kraisak Choonhavan, Ing K, and Manit Sriwanichpum receiving the best picture award.

Pen-ek Rattanaruang was named the best director for his "Nang Mai" ("Nymph"). The best actor award went to Poramet Noi-um from "Samchuk" produced by Pacific Island Film while Chris Horwang received the best actress award from her role in the box-office champion "Rot Fai Fa Ma Ha Na Ther" ("Bangkok Traffic Love Story").

The independent artist also rules the best song category with the rap group "Fukking Hero & Thee Chaiyadej" song "Ratree Sawasdi" receiving the award from the song that reflects the violence in the deep South of Thailand. New band under Small Room label "The Richman Toy" scooping the best new artist and best album awards

The best female artist in music category went to Yarinda "Nina" Bunnag from the album named "Schools" from Small Room label. The best male artist went to Apiwat "Stamp" Ue-thavornsuk from "Million Ways To Write Part 1 of Love Is-Sony Music label.

On small screen, veteran actor Pongpat Vachirabanjong received two awards: best actor from his role as a gay man on Channel 3's "Phrachan See Rung", and best director from Channel 3's "Dong Phu Dee". The best actress went to Piyatida "Pok" Woramuksi from "Mia Luang" on Channel 7. The remake comedy "Phuyai Lee Kab Nang Ma" received the best TV series award.

The popular vote from the public went to Sukrit Wisetkaew or "Bie the Star" and Patcharapa "Um" Chaichue. The two received the most votes by their fans in 2009.

The most popular Thai film went to GTH's "Rot Fai Fa Ma Ha Na Ther" ("Bangkok Traffic Love Story").
