Over 25,000 New Year cards and presents were sent via post on a daily basis while post office hours have been extended for customers' convenience.
Prapan Srithila, postmaster of Chiang Mai Post Office, said yesterday the delivery of New Year cards and presents had increased from 20,000 pieces a day to 25,000.
The number of items is expected to double from December 30-January 4, which would exceed 100,000 per day.
The Chiang Mai Post Office would stay open an extra half hour, from 8am-5pm, and run extra branches at Chiang Mai Airport and Central Airport Plaza.
The offices are offering stickers with the pictures of a present box to decorate the packages, he added.
