New Nokia Slide

New Nokia Slide

Nokia 6760 slide

The Nokia 6760 slide is a new mobile phone for text-messaging and social-network updating on the go.

The phone looks and feels like a mobile-messaging device rather than a phone because it is wider than most phones when the slide keyboard is closed.

When the full Qwerty keyboard slides out on the left side, you can easily type with your thumbs because it is quite spacious for a mobile phone.

And the 6760 slide comes with all the necessary applications for updating your social network pages and for chatting with your online friends. It has Facebook, Myspace and Friendster applications, and you can also use the Share Online application to connect to other blog services, including OKNation, Flicker, Ovi and Vox.

For chatting, it comes with Windows Live Messenger. If you want to connect to other chat servers, you need to use Nokia Messaging Chat, which allows you to integrate your existing chat accounts such as Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk or Ovi to the same Nokia Messaging Chat account.

Webpages, e-mails and messages are readable on the phone's 2.4-inch QVGA screen.

I tested the phone on TrueMove's Edge network and connected to Windows Live Messenger with no problem and I could check and download mails from my Hotmail account with ease. I could also update my Facebook page with the phone.

The phone has a 3G connection of HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) type. Unfortunately, it does not have Wi-Fi connection.

Since the 6760 slide is not a touch phone, I found it quite inconvenient to dial a number unless you used a headset or Bluetooth headset. That is, you need to slide the keyboard out and press the number keys, and then close the keyboard before you can talk on the phone without a headset.

The phone also functions as an MP3 player with good music quality, but it has a 2.5mm headphone socket instead of the standard 3.5mm socket. The stereo headset provided with the phone reproduced clean music but it was lacking in bass power.

Another good thing about the 6760 slide is that it comes with a 3.2-megapixel camera with good quality. The shots were good and clean for a mobile phone.

It also comes with A-GPS and a Nokia Maps feature that works well for navigating.

The phone also has good battery life. With one full charge, I found that the  battery lasted more than five days in normal use.

The Nokia 6760 Slide retails for Bt9,140.
