Disasters come in threes

Disasters come in threes

Thieves smashed a jewellery vendor's car window and made off with valuables worth Bt10 million in Bangkok's Taling Chan area, police said yesterday.

The victim Saen Siriwetchakul had stopped off at a roadside restaurant on Kanchana Road to buy food on Wednesday night, when a fair, Arablooking man walked past and dropped a Bt1,000 banknote. Saen immediately dashed to return the cash to him, only to dis¬cover that his car's righthand window smashed and his jew¬ellery box and bag missing. This is the third time that Saen has been robbed. The first time was in a similar manner in the Ban Mor area and the second time was when bur¬glars broke into his safety deposit box at home.

A security guard nearby said he had seen two Arablooking men scoping out the care, before one dropped a banknote to distract the vic¬tim while another smashed the car window. Shortly after, a third man drove up in a Toyota with no license plate to pick up the duo.
