Acrobats and clowns invade Lumpini Park

More than 40 troupes will entertain passers-by at Lumpini Park as part of the International Street Show from today until Sunday.

Organised by Workpoint Entertainment's Signature Company, the event features mimes, clowns, acrobats, puppets and other performers.

From the Netherlands is Teatro Pavana, a group of acrobats, musicians and dancers who'll present "Colours" in costume and masks inspired by the Venice Carnival.

Also hailing from the Netherlands is Bencha Theatre, offering a "new circus" acrobatic balancing and aerial work blended with music and dance.

Bedlam Oz, the family visual-theatre troupe from Australia and the UK, brings their Silver Tube show to Bangkok along with the "Big Mob" - a majestic parade with bursts of comic energy.

Germany's Scharnier Theatre provides walking acts with wired dolls and play masks. You'll probably laugh when you encounter Gianno and Nanini strolling with their dog Pino.

The Chinese Acrobat Art Group featuring young talent Ou Jao, will balance on chairs.

The Funny Bones Theatre, a collaboration between Chris from the UK and Keibo from Japan, presents "The Zombies" - giant puppets that both scary and funny.

Last year's favourites, the Silvouplait group from Japan, are back with another fabulous mime, along with James Yoki and his tiny bicycle.

More than 10 Thai performance groups are joining the troupes from Asia and Europe.

Admission is free.
