Larger NTC transfer to state

The National Telecommunica-tions Commission expects to transfer between Bt2.7 billion and Bt2.8 billion in regulatory fees after expenses to the state coffers this year.

NTC acting secretary-general Takorn Tantasit said yesterday that the regular had originally targeted gross regulatory fees of Bt3.9 billion this year, with estimated expenses of Bt2.8 billion.

However, expenses might be lower than forecast due to a number of projects the NTC might not be able to implement by year-end.

The watchdog also recently received Bt1.5 billion in overdue phone-number fees from TOT and CAT Telecom. This has already been transferred to the state coffers.

When combining these factors, the NTC is expected to transfer Bt2.7 billion-Bt2.8 billion this year, said Takorn.

The NTC transferred regulatory fees of Bt1.739 billion from 2005 to 2007 and another Bt1.6 billion last year.
