Samak's death causes bereavement for politics : PM

Politicians are mourning the death of former prime minister Samak Sundaravej, who died of cancer early yesterday.

PM Abhisit Vejjajiva :

"I followed Samak' s political career since I was young. He is a renowned politician of Thailand. His death has caused a time of bereavement for Thai politics."

Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra:

"I and my family deeply offer condolences about his death, but I can't go back to Thailand to express my mourning by myself."

Former Foreign Affairs Minister Noppadol Pattama:

"Samak was such a forceful leader. He had a strong standing; thus, he was a role model for everyone. Thailand is grieving for an almighty politician."

Pheu Thai leader Yongyuth Wichaidit:

"Pheu Thai Party is the heir of the People Power Party, which Samak was the leader of, so Samak and Pheu Thai Party have that relationship. He was a good politician and deeply understood democracy."

Former Thai Citizen Party member Paveena Hongsakul:

"I offer condolences as Thailand grieves for this venerable person who did many things of benefit for Thailand. Samak was my political father because he is taught me a lot. I am so sad about his death."
