Intel announces national winners of 'Find the Genius' competition

Intel Microelectronics (Thailand) has announced the final result of the 'Find The Genius' competition, a national IT contest which brought together grade four to grade nine students, nationwide, to showcase their IT skills.

The competition was based on three levels of knowledge testing - the internet, software installation and an advanced, hardware installation and IT integration in education level. Winners received scholarships worth 200,000 in total including trophies and certificates.

For the primary level , the winner is Nut Viravidhaya, a grade 6 student from The Prince Royal's College, Chiangmai province; the first runner up is Nuttavee Watcharintkorn, grade 6 student from Satit Songkhla Rajabhat University, Songkhla province; the second runner up is Wasapol Jungskulwatana, grade 6 student from Streemandapitak school, Chantaburi province. For the secondary level , the winner is Vasupon vaekvaree, grade 9 student from Benjamarachutit Ratchaburi, Ratchaburi province; the first runner up is Kittisak Maneepong, grade 7 student from Kalasinpitayasan school, Kalasin province; the second runner up is Chalermpon Thongmotai, grade 9 student from Sa-ard Paderm Wittaya school, Chumpon province.

Sontiya Nujeenseng, Area sales manager of Intel Microelectronics (Thailand) said 'After organizing this 'Find The Genius' activity in many provinces, we are impressed with talent of the students and see great potential for them to further development in their IT skills. This activity gives a good opportunity for Thai young to express their talents as well as educate other students and parents on the benefits of IT. This will benefit the students themselves, their families and finally raise the overall IT literacy level of the country.'

Vasupon vaekvaree, grade 9 student from Benjamarachutit Ratchaburi who won the competition under the secondary group said 'This activity has inspired me as well as my friends and has helped us to see more clearly how IT can benefit our lives. Apart from the knowledge that we got from the seminar and exhibition, we also got valuable experience and made many new friends'

This 'Find The Genius' activity is part of the 'My Family PC programme' and the 'My Family PC Days' road show which aims to educate students, and their families on the benefits of technology. The activities which have been running since July this year are being conducted in 10 major provinces including Bangkok, Rayong, Kanchanaburi, Ubonratchathani, Udornthani, Nakornratchasima, Chaingmai, Pitsanulok, Songkhla, and Suratthani.  Activities in the road show include an exhibition, seminar, and educational workshops such as the easy way to delete the virus from your computer, computer assembly, 3D creation and a robot control programme.

Sontiya Nujeenseng, Area sales manager of Intel Microelectronics (Thailand) added that 'Under this activity, one of the major successes was the creation of awareness of the benefit of IT among students, parents and teachers. In addition, all alliances under this 'My Family PC programme' played an important role in increasing the level of access to technology to people upcountry. It has helped bridge the digital divide as well as create more jobs in those provinces.'

The 'My Family PC programme' was launched by the IT and the telecommunications industry and aims to give Thai people more access to quality computers by offering nettop and desktop computers powered by Intel processors. A wide range of specifications is on offer with prices of computers starting from Bt9,900.
