Mother and sister of a Thai engineer who was arrested in Cambodia for allegedly spying are ready to go to Phnom Penh to visit him, Foreign Ministry's deputy spokesman Thani Thongpakdi said Wednesday.

Mother Simaluck Na Nakhon Panom and his sister went to have passports issued at Foreign Ministry's passport branch in Nakhon Ratchasima on Wednesday.

"Now they are ready to go to Phnom Penh to visit Khun Siwarak. Once Cambodia issues permission for them to visit him, they can go," he said.

However until today, Cambodia has not yet had any response on the matter.

Siwarak was arrested last week and on charge of stealing confidential information deemed detrimental to the national security.

Phnom Penh detained him in a Phnom Penh prison and allowed first consular visit on Tuesday.
