REGARDLESS OF ADVERSITIES

Pre-Cadet Class 10 still backing Thaksin

Former classmates from Pre-Cadet Class 10 will continue to support fugitve ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra and not quit the Pheu Thai Party as speculated, retired Air Chief Marshal Sumeth Phomanee said on Tuesday.

The Class 10 also has no involvement in the bomb attack against the People's Alliance for Democracy rally on Sunday, Sumeth said.

"The attack was likely the work of 'amatuers' because the damage should be much greater if done by men in uniform with proper training to handle the M-79 grenade launcher," he said.

He said the Class 10 will not waver in their loyalty to Thaksin.

The classmates saw various adversities designed to fault Thaksin, he said, alluding to the labelling of Thaksin as traitor for accepting to become the economic adviser to Cambodia and the remarks deemed offensive to the monarchy.

In regard to the arrest of a Thai man on suspicion of spying in Phnom Penh, he said it would be a good thing if Thaksin intervened and brokered the release.

He was speaking in an interview given to Thai Rath Online.
