The court has been hearing testimonies from the complainants, mostly NGOs and affected villagers, as well as defendants, namely project owners over the past week. The villagers want the halt on projects to continue, while project owners want construction to continue so they stop losing money. All four parties are part of a government commission.
Itthiphol Jaemjaeng, member of the panel, said he would ask the prime minister to allow more village representatives from Map Ta Phut to join the commission.
Meanwhile, Srisuwan Janya, chairman of the Stop Global Warming Association, has called for Industry Ministry permanent secretary Saksit Treedej, a government representative on the panel, to be replaced by a deputy, saying that he had been inactive in imposing pollution-control measures on existing operations.
