Piyasvasti starts work on Oct 19

Piyasvasti Amranand

Piyasvasti Amranand will officially start his work as the new president of Thai Airways International on October 19, the airline's board of directors announced on Friday.

THAI Chairman Ampon Kittiampon said that Council of State recently ruled that Piyasvasti is qualified for the new job. Though he earlier served as a director of the Bangkok Aviation Fuel Service (BAFS), the job ended October 2006. According to Ampon, the new job could have posed conflict of interest if Piyasvasti took the new job before October 9.

Ampon also insisted that the delay in contract signing is not to ensure Piyasvasti's qualification, but is due to a series of negotiation on job conditions.

The board also approved the framework of the 5-year corporate strategy plan (2010-2014). Piyasvasti will work out details of the plan with the management, and the plan would be submitted to the board.
