Non Ingkutanon, True's general manager for wire-line broadband services business, said the new package was aimed at stealing rivals' market share in the Bangkok metropolitan area.
He claimed that True had almost 700,000 subscribers out of a total of 900,000 broadband Internet subscribers in the area.
True will expand its broadband Internet service to cover another 10 provinces next year, from the current five. The company expects a total of 800,000 subscribers at the end of the year.
Broadband Internet providers have competed by offering faster connection speeds to the market.
Vichaow Rakphongphairoj, managing director of True Online, said True would spend between Bt3 billion and Bt5 billion on broadband network expansion next year, pending the board's approval.
It is spending Bt2 billion this year on broadband network expansion.
True's new broadband Internet service package offers a connection speed of 16Mbps at a monthly fee of Bt2,200. Subscribers will also be eligible to watch 40 TV channels from TrueVisions free for 18 months.
