More focus on long-term projects:PM



Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will channel more borrowing to long-term development strategies, rather than short-term ones, due to signs of economic recovery.

 Under the Bt400 billion borrowing scheme, the government is revising the list of projects. He said that the list should be completed in the next few months.

 On Friday, he called for a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Korbsak Sabhavasu, Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij and Walailuck Sri-arun, director-general of the Budget Bureau.

 He told reporters that it is estimated that Bt150 billion is ready for disbursement which would go to the agricultural income guarantee project, the village fund, and others. The projects would be tabled for the Cabinet's approval on Oct 13.
