Six officers indicted over role in murder

Six policemen based in Kalasin were yesterday indicted for their alleged role in the murder of a man in connection with a drug-related case five years ago.

The officers, attached to the Muang police station, were charged for the premeditated murder of Kiattisak Kiatbunkhrong and for concealing his body in July 2004. Later his relatives lodged a complaint with DSI citing their suspicions over his death. The DSI later ruled that the victim had been murdered and recommended the Office of the Attorney General to prosecute the six officers.

The officers indicted are Pol Colonel Montree Sribunlue, Pol Lt-Colonels Sumit Nansathit and Samphao Indee, Pol Sr Sgt-Majors Angkhan Moolkhamna, Sutthinant Nonething and Phornsilp Uppanant. Three officers have been additionally charged with assisting others to escape prosecution. - The Nation
