3 power plants may be banned

Three big power plants are on the list of the Department of Industrial Works' projects which could create serious effects to environment.

Those power plants' capacity is more than 500 megawatts each. The department will announce soon whether they will be allowed to proceed.

Withoon Simachokdee, director-general of the department, said on Monday that some 13 industrial projects are also on the department's list. Ten are considered not to damage the environment and the department is considering the impacts of the rest.

Those 13 industrial projects require a combined investment of Bt60 billion.
