Fierce bidding in Australia for Michael Jackson's white glove

Sydney - A crystal-encrusted white glove pop star Michael Jackson threw into the crowd the day he married in Australia was auctioned in Melbourne on Sunday for 57,600 Australian dollars (47,000 US dollars).

Jackson, then 38, marred his pregnant 37-year-old nurse, Debbie Rowe, in Sydney's Sheraton Hotel in 1996.

Auction house Bonhams and Goodman said the signature glove was bought by a United States buyer and would go on display at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas.

Spokeswoman Charlotte Stanes said the glove was the first to be auctioned since Jackson's death in June, aged 50. Three more of Jackson's white gloves would be auctioned in the US later this year.
