The request, made by relatives of Alluh Weiri through a public prosecutor, is needed to manage his unwilled assets both in Thailand and Saudi Arabia.
The Civil Court of Southern Bangkok yesterday accepted the request and set a session at 1 pm on October 19 for its ruling. A court decision is needed before a legal deadline of 20 years expires.
Before his disappearance on February 12, 1990, Weiri ran a Bangkok-based overseas employment company which sought Thai labourers to work in his home country. He last contacted his wife at 3 pm while driving to pick her up to head home.
His car was found parked at a hospital on Silom Road on February 26.
Prosecutor Wirat Suwatthanachao said the court decision was needed for the sole purpose of legally allowing Weiri's inheritors to manage his assets.
"It has nothing to do with an ongoing investigation into the murders of two Saudi Arabian diplomats not long before Weiri's disappearance," he added.
