Inside the gymnasium, Abhisit was greeted by a large group of school and university students, as well as teachers and lecturers. Many members of the audience gave him loud cheers in addition to applause.
The premier said that the country was now beleaguered with many problems and that, without support from the public, the government would be unable to solve them successfully. He thanked Thammasat University for taking a supporting role for the country, adding that participation from academic institutions was vital in helping steer the country out of problems.
