A man runs his taxi through Government House's entrance

A man drove his taxi through Government House's compound on Tuesday and demanded Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to help solve his problems.

The man drove his car and broke into the compound at about 8.40am.

He then parked his pink taxi in front of a building, blowing the horn and flashing the vehicle's lights.

Police then surrounded the vehicle and used barricades to block his way. The man who was later identified as Pongpicharn Tanatipong, 46, initially refused to step out of the car.

The prime minister is already in the Government House.

After police's negotiation, the man agreed to get out of the car and was detained for further interrogation.

He briefly told reporters that he wanted to talk to the prime minister as he wanted him to solve what he claimed a bad construction of Lardprao bridge. He claimed that the bad construction was the reason behind his car accident.

Police used tow car to tow his taxi away from the scene.

Pongpicharn is a familiar face at the Government House as he came to file several complaints including about his missing child and drug problems.

Initial investigation showed that Pongpicharn followed Thai TV's car from the station to Government House and when the tv car was about to reach the gate, he cut its way and went through the entrance.
