Cabinet names NSC's new secretary general

Thawil

The Cabinet bumped the National Security Council's Deputy Secretary General Thawil Pliensri up one level to make him the council's new secretary general yesterday, Deputy Government Watchara Kannikar said.

Thawil has been NSC's acting secretary-general after Surapol Puenaiyaka, the secretary-general, was transferred to the post of adviser to the prime minister.

Surapol's transfer had also been acknowledged by the Cabinet, the spokesman said.

In a separate development, the Judicial Commission yesterday elected Vice Supreme Court President Sopchok Sukharom as the next president until 2012, when it will be time for him to retire. The current president Wirat Limwichai will retire at the end of September.
