
The move is attempt to upgrade customers experience to the higher spend of broadband connection.
Non Ingkutanon, general manager of Wire-Line Broadband Services Business at True Corporation said that after the company has been upgrading and improving its 1,700 high speed Internet nodes with the aim to enhance Internet connection speed for consumers, currently, it is ready to provide 12-mbps broadband Internet service to customers.
The company launched the campaign to upgrade speed to 12 mbps free for its both current and new users who subscribe the 8-mbps broadband services from August 1 to September 30.
"Users will get higher speed at the price of 8 mbps that is Bt1,199 for two months. After two months, we will get the market feedback and then will launch the commercial services at Bt1,699 per month. To provide the 12-mbps broadband service commercially we need to upgrade our Internet nodes that we planed to upgrade more 200 nodes this year," said Non.
He said that this campaign is also to help increase the company's broadband and Internet revenue at the growth rate of 9 to 10 per cent from the total revenue of Bt6,000 million from last year. And, it also helps the company to maintain its average revenue per user (ARPU) at over Bt700, which is higher than the market's ARPU.
It also helps company to gear its total subscribers to meet around 700,000 by the end of this year, from now only 650,000 users.
However, the majority of its total subscribers- around 75 per cent - are users who subscribing 3-mbps broadband services, meanwhile around 8 per cent of total customers are users who subscribe high speed at 8 mbps up. Non said that this campaign will increase this portion from 8 per cent to 10 per cent by the end of this year.
"Currently, we provide broadband Internet at various speeds including 3 mbps, 4 mbps, 5 mbps, and 8 mbps. We are launching 10 mbps and 12 mbps in the near future at Bt1,499 and Bt1,699 respectively," said Non.
