Lotus Supercentre in China

Charoen Pokphand Group is spending Bt50 million per Lotus outlet in China on renovation, so that the venues offer products and services that meet new generation's preferences.

The renovation is one of the three success strategies. "Next, we're striving for service excellence and human resource development," said Jim Haworth, chairman of Lotus Shanghai Supercentre Chainstore Co Ltd - the operator of Lotus Supercentre.

Celebrating its 12 anniversary in China, the group now operates 76 outlets and 4 distribution centres, which serve over 300 million customers per annum. The group expects this year's sale revenue to grow 13 per cent on year to Bt64.5 billion.

China's retail industry last year showed a 21.6 per cent growth rate last year, when retail sales exceeded Bt50 trillion. Retail sale growth this year is expected to be 19 per cent, due to the economic slowdown.
