Asean ministers 'strongly condemn' Jakarta bombings

The Asean foreign ministers on Saturday strongly condemned the Friday's bombings in Jakarta.

"We fully support the Indonesian government's effort to bring the perpetrators of these heinous acts to justice," they said in a statement released in Phuket.

The explosions at Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott hotels in Jakarta's central business district left at least eight people dead and more than 50 wounded, including many foreigners.

"Asean stands united with the4 government and people of Indonesia and remains steadfast in our continued fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," the statement said.

Foreign ministers from the 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations member countries are gathering in Phuket for important regional meetings, the Asean Ministerial Meeting and the Asean Regional Forum.
