
On the sidelines of the seminar on "Investment Drive to Boost the Southern Economy" in Surat Thani, he told reporters that within five years, the export value would be doubled. Surat Thani meanwhile will be positioned as the para rubber centre, thanks to the largest plantation area.
Charnchai said that he would push for the establishment of a large industrial estate in the province, which could entail investment of over Bt1.5 billion, as well as logistics development.
The lower South, particularly Satun, would be developed to be a ship building centre while the three provinces in the Deep South as the Halal food production centre.
"We will try to have this government approve the plans. Though the government's term may end, but the approved plans would be continued," he said.
