Govt allocates Bt850 million more to buy vaccines and antiviral drug

The Cabinet Tuesday approved a budget of Bt850 million to buy vaccines against the new strain of influenza and oseltamivir tablets in its latest decision to fight agains the flu.

Of the allocation, Bt600 million will be used to buy two million doses of the vaccines and the rest was for the tablets.

The vaccines that would be divided into two lots, the first is expected to arrive Thailand in December and the second in January.

Health care workers, medical personnels and doctors would be among the first group to receive the vaccines, followed by doctors and medical personnels working in southernmost provinces, as well as security personnel and people having underlying disease.

The Public Health Ministry and universities will jointly make pamphlets about the influenza as a means to give correct knowledge about the flu to the public.
