NESDB on track in drafting 11th development plan

Thailand's 11th economic and social development plan is earmarked to raise the export value by 30 per cent per annum during the years 2012-2016, through more efficient structure, education system, and higher standards of production, trade and services.

Ampon Kittiampon, secretary-general of the National Economic and Social Development Board which is in charge of the plan drafting, said the 11th plan will focus on 5 strategies which will see the balance of the social peace, economic growth, energy consumption and democratic participation.

The NESDB on Friday kicked off the annual meeting to discuss the plan, where 2,500 representatives from the public and private sectors, academics and other stakeholders attended.

Following the meeting on Friday, the agency will dispatch teams to provinces for more hearings. The plan is expected to be submitted for the Cabinet's consideration in 2011.
