Yunyong earned bachelor and doctoral degrees in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has worked at the central bank since 2001.
He started as a senior economist on the macroeconomics team and an executive on the supplyside policyanalysis team before joining the capital account and balance-of-payments policy team, working in capitalflow management and capitalaccount liberalisation.
Yunyong has experience in formulating Thailand's stance on capitalflow issues for freetrade negotiations.
He has conducted policy workshops on a strategies to strengthen the country's resiliency against foreignexchange risk and ways to support the Kingdom's direct investment abroad.
The first person to be exchanged between the SET and the central bank was Kobsak Pootrakool, who was executive director of the CMRI from October 1, 2007 to January 31 of this year.
