Election Commission member Sodsri Satayathum said yesterday the agency might have to postpone the deadline for 44 MPs to defend themselves with regard to shares they are holding in state concession-related companies.
Sodsri said the 15-day deadline, which ends today, needed to be postponed because only a few MPs had explained themselves to the EC investigators.
It is still uncertain whether the EC will decide to interpret the meaning of the terms "common share" and "debenture" by themselves, or consult its legal team.
The charter's Article 265 prohibits MPs and senators from holding equity stakes linked to state concessions.
