Cabinet to consider closing tutorial schools and net cafes 2 weeks



Public Health Ministry has proposed to close net cafes and tutorial schools countrywide for two weeks as a part of campaign to prevent spreading of the new strain of influenza, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said Wednesday.

The ministry will also ask net cafes to conduct cleaning to prevent them from being source of the virus.

The prime minister said after discussing the pandemic with Public Health Minister Witthaya Kaewparadai and senior ministry officials at the Government House on Wednesday.

"The measures would be forwarded to get cabinet's approval on Thursday," Abhisit said. The meeting is changed from Tuesday to Thursday due to long holiday.

He was speaking after two more people succumbed to the virus on Wednesday, bringing number of the victims to 11.

The net cafes would also be asked to screen their customers, Abhisit said adding

The health ministry also said sources of the spreading included entertainment places.
