NFI seeks Bt1.5 bn budget to improve food quality

The National Food Institute is tapping Bt1.5 billion from the second economic stimulus package, to further complete the Kitchen of the World programme.

National Food Institute (NFI) director Yutthasak Supphasorn said that the budget would be used primarily to upgrade food factories' standard. Under the master plan during 2009-2012, about half of 10,000 food factories would be upgraded, with hope that Thailand's food export value would rise to Bt1 trillion per annum.
