Thousands security personnel to protect PM during Northeast visit

Over 3,000 police and military personnel would be deployed to provide security for Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and his Cabinet during their visit to the northeastern province of Buri Ram on July 11.

The governor of Buriram chaired a meeting of senior police and army officers to review security measures to be provided for Abhisit and the Cabinet next weekend.

Abhisit has said he chose Buri Ram as his first stop in the northeastern region because he wanted to follow up water and road development programmes falling under the government's economic stimulus programmes.
