The fair is being held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre.
Besides IT product sales, the event will showcase advanced technologies, including the smallest digital single-lens reflex camera - the Panasonic DMC-G1 - the Kindle 2 and Kindle DX electronic book-readers and the palm-size projector, the Apitek Pocket Cinema V10.
IT firms will also compete by offering heavy promotional packages to tempt consumers.
For example, Acer Computer is aggressively offering a Bt10,000 discount to anyone buying a notebook priced at more than Bt20,000 or a desktop costing at least Bt15,000. However, the offer is subject to conditions, which will be disclosed at the event.
Acer has spent Bt60 million on special activities to promote its highlighted products, including the Aspire 4937G notebook, with a special price of Bt25,900, and the Aspire Timeline 3810T - which comes with Windows Vista Home Premium - for Bt38,900.
Fellow IT giant Hewlett-Packard has joined hands with Advanced Info Service (AIS) to offer a bundled package, under which each purchaser of the HP Pavilion TX2-1001 AU TouchSmart laptop computer, which costs Bt39,900, will get a free AIS air card.
The package also enables buyers to connect wirelessly to the Internet 50 hours per month free of charge for six months.
Meanwhile, Asustek Computer's special promotion offers the K Series K40Ij-VX042 laptop for Bt15,900, but the number will be limited.
Fujitsu will launch its Life Book P8020, S6520 and S6421 and M2010 netbook with special offers such as zero-interest instalments for 10 months when paying with a Citibank, Kasikornbank, Bank of Ayudhya or Krungthai Card credit card and zero interest for six months when using a First Choice card.
Thai notebook-maker SVOA also has a special promotion, under which it offers zero interest for instalments of 10 months for all laptop models priced from Bt12,900 to Bt18,900. All buyers will receive free preloaded Window Vista Home Basic and a Bt500 Big C gift voucher.
Another highlight at the fair is lucky-draw coupons. Those purchasing items worth a total of at least Bt3,000 will qualify. The biggest prize is a Bt500,000Chevrolet Aveo 1.4 Base M/T.
