The two-day conference will be hosted by the Thai Institute of Directors Association in cooperation with the Thailand Management Association, the Board of Trade, the National Economic and Social Development Board and the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
At the event, results of a competitiveness survey will be shared, and speakers will identify a competitiveness framework that can help authorities from both the public and the private sectors better prioritise the challenges and opportunities facing Thailand.
The conference and its workshops have been specially designed to facilitate the most fruitful discussion possible.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will deliver the opening speech on Thailand's potential and placement in the world arena. Joining the stage will be his adviser, Apirak Kosayodhin; Prof Stephane Garelli, director of the World Competitiveness Centre at Switzerland's Institute for Management Development (IMD); and IMD deputy director Suzanne Rosselet.
On the second day, there will be a panel discussion on "Thailand's Vision: Ascending the Value Chain", which will highlight Thailand's potential as a world leader in food, an emerging leader in creative industry, the preferred destination for tourism and high-value added services, an Asian logistics hub and alternative energy.
