State enterprises' contribution set to fall
State enterprises could suffer from a poorer performance than last year, due to the economic slowdown and rising energy and overhead costs, according to the State Enterprise Policy Office.
Their remittances to the government in this fiscal year could fall to Bt85-Bt86 billion, well behind the Bt93 billion target.
The office's director-general Areepong Bhoocha-Oom said at best, the combined remittances could reach Bt90 billion.
All state enterprises are told to increase their efficiency particularly 5 agencies with significant degradation like the National Housing Authority, TOT Corp, CAT Telecom, Bangkok Mass Transit and Thai Airways International.
TOT and CAT Telecom must end legal conflicts as soon as possible and submit their survival plans, which could include joint investment. BMTA also needs to present the plan how new buses would be used to generate revenue.
Areepong said that after the loss of over Bt20 billion last year, Thai Airways may not suffer from another loss this year.
