Pheu Thai says no to former MP rebels

Pheu Thai Party will not accept into its wing former party MPs who had defected to join other parties when the Democrat Party rose to power, Deputy House Speaker Apiwan Wiriyachai said on Monday.

Following Pheu Thai Party's two landslide by-election victories, Apiwan said many former Pheu Thai Party mps had contacted the party asking that they return as members but the party leaders have decided to welcome all of them except those who defected from the party when the country witness a change of the political camp at Government House.

During the formation of the Democrat-led government, the Friends of Newin faction in the Pheu Thai Party made a significant move to defect from the party to support the Democrats.

He said the party had not decided about changing the party leader because it believed the Democrat-led government would survive for a long time and the general election would not be held in the near future.
