Cabinet to debate new Parliament

Cabinet to debate new Parliament

Cabinet is scheduled tomorrow to debate the Bt1.2 billion budget earmarked for the appropriation of a construction site for the new Parliament at Dusit district - which will include the relocation of three communities.

The House Secretariat calculated the relocation costs based on the results of four public hearings conducted last year.

A 97 per cent majority of the Trukuldit community, comprising 40 families, has agreed to move to a new residential site provided by the government. It

is located on a four-rai state plot, part of the dockyard under the jurisdiction of the Navy. Authorities concerned will develop the plot and build two-storey townhouses for the relocated families.

For relocation of the Yothin Burana School, outlay is estimated at about Bt1 billion for a new school on a 16-rai plot near Wat Soithong which is within a neighbourhood similar to the school's present location.

Authorities will earmark an additional Bt20 million for the removal of a gas depot located near the new school site.

About 70 per cent of the school community- 164 teachers and 3,630 students - have agreed to the relocation.

For the removal of a the third group - a community for government textile workers- 93 families will each receive a plot complete with a two-storey townhouse located in the same area as that assigned for the Trukuldit community.
