Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva made the remark after his formal meeting with Chinese Prime Minister, Wen Jiabao, in Beijing on Wednesday.
Abhisit told the press that both countries agreed to boost their cooperation to develop the rail transport system nationwide and also connect the system with those of Asean members.
After meeting with Shi Dahua, chairman of the China Railway Engineering Corporation, China's largest railway builder, Abhisit said the firm is interested to invest in Thailand's railway system development as he learned that Thailand has a number of mega-projects.
Dahua was quoted as saying the company also constructs hi-speed train lines, using the world's best technology developed from railway construction practices in Japan and Germany.
The company is willing to cooperate with the Thai government in any form of investment, Abhisit said, and is ready to foster technology transfer and training for Thai officials.
Abhisit was due to travel to Tianjin, a port city near Beijing, and then to Guangdong by high-speed train Thursday afternoon, to see town planning.
The Thai prime minister left Bangkok Wednesday morning for Beijing on his first official visit to China, June 24-27, at the invitation of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in order to boost Sino-Thai cooperation.
