
"It is true Sonthi is studying his options but he is not about to become the party leader for the time being," Mun said.
He hinted, however, Sonthi might eventually accept the party leadership. He said Sonthi has remained in contacts with the party's three MPs from the Deep South.
He said Sonthi is interested in entering politics because he has the experience in dealing with the strife in the Deep South.
The party is scheduled to hold its convention this month to elect a new executive board, triggering speculation about Sonthi's involvement.
Inspite of his repeated denials about political aspirations, Sonthi remains active in building the social-networking with politicians from all stripes.
He is taking courses for a doctorate degree in political science at Ramkhamhaeng University.He is also attending a training course designed to improve on the electoral system and organised by the Election Commission.
