The association will soon propose the SEC to revise the minimum level, said Asvini Tailanga, managing director of Thanachart Securities.
She said that the minimum Bt20 million rate is too low and would cause havoc to the entire industry, as the average commission fees will fall further from 0.24 per cent at present.
Asvini noted that the association is conducting a study of the impacts of the commission fee negotiation. She expected the result within the end of this year. In her opinion, the commission fee liberalisation should take place when the market's daily turnover exceeds Bt30 billion.
Securities companies expected positive returns in the second quarter, when the daily turnover is Bt25 billion compared to Bt8.5 billion in the first quarter. The daily turnover is expected to average Bt15 billion in the second half, which should lead to the annualised daily average of Bt14 billion.
