
A noodle shop occupies the ground floor of the building, while its second and third storeys are divided into nine studio apartments. Two bags carrying the explosives were found in a storage compartment under the stairs on the second floor. There were two M26 grenades, one M26A2 grenade, one M61 grenade, two quarter-pound blocks of C4 explosives and two detonating chords. The items, collected by the police bomb squad, were taken in as evidence.
Surapol Para, 44, a worker at the noodle shop, said that at 2am on Saturday he noticed a 20-year-old man, about 170-centimetres tall, carrying stainless boxes with floor tiles, while another man aged about 27 was placing the tiles in the area where the bombs were found. Surapol recalled the duo driving off on a motorcycle, but said he didn't pay them much attention as he thought they were repairmen.
Landlady Sunee said she had no conflicts with anyone and admitted that the tenants sometimes forgot to lock the door.
