The panel agreed that increased benefits would allow MPs and senators to focus more on their work, without having to find a second job or seek benefits via unlawful means.
Senator Prasert Chitpong, chairman of the sub-committee, said the panel yesterday discussed two issues: organisations under the Constitution; as well as political parties and politicians.
With regard organisations under the Constitution, the panel proposed that members of certain independent organisations such as the Election Commission, National Anti-Corruption Commission and Auditor-General's Office resign immediately as they were appointed by the coup-makers without royal endorsement.
Regarding political parties and politicians, the panel suggested that the charter's provision allowing the dissolution of political parties should be removed as it weakens the effort to develop parties into institutions.
Prasert said there should be no obstacles in the growth of political parties and politicians.
The panel is part of the committee on reconciliation, political reform and constitutional amendment.
