Thai teen becomes fifth influenza patient



Thai Public Health Ministry announced Tuesday that a fifth Thai is confirmed to be infected by the type-A (H1N1) influenza, Permanent Secretary Dr Prat Boonyawongvirot said.

The 18-year-old woman had slight fever, cough and running nose on May 28, a day after she returned from the United States.

She was then admitted to a Bangkok hospital. Lab test results showed that she had A-type (H1N1) influenza, which has hit more than 50 countries and killing more than ten worldwide.

Dr Prat said the teen recovered after receiving medical treatment and medicine .

Public Health Ministry has sent a team to her residence to observe conditions of her family members, Prat said, adding so far no one showed signs of the influenza.
