Kosit's favourite book concerns China

As part of the survey what recent books leaders in businesses, government and society have found worth reading, Kosit Panpiemras, executive chairman of Bangkok Bank, found a book he thought interesting called "What Does China Think?", written by Mark Leonard and published on February 18, 2008.

"You see lots of books in the shops about the economic crisis and so on, and others about how-to and instant solutions.

"Then look at books about China. Most of them are written from a Western viewpoint.

"But this man has talked to many Chinese, particularly younger academics. The author is an executive and director of the European Council on Foreign Relations, and the book is based on material from his interviews.

"For example, there's the question of how China could become the anchor of the world economy. The Chinese here say they think they're still a developing country. They may be able to take care of their own economy but not anybody else's.

"This is the view of young academics educated overseas who lead several sectors in China."
