Thai PM leaves for South Korea Saturday



Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajjiva on Saturday left for South Korea where he would attend a summit of Asean countries and South Korea.

Accompanying him to the four-day summit, starting today, on Jeju Island included Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya and a group of leading Thai businessmen.

Abhisit said that the summit is held as part of the celebration of the 20 th anniversary of the relationship between Asean countries and South Korea.

Thailand has regarded as important the relations and cooperations with South Korea which has been a major dialogue partner of the Asean grouping.

South Korea has also had excellent relations with the region and extended the cooperations with the Asean in many fields particularly during the economic crisis.

Top on the agenda included extension of cooperation frameworks and agreements on the investment.

Both sides have already agreed on the Free Trade Area, he said.

Thai businessmen were invited to join the trip to look for business opportunities in South Korea.
