
"Government should work hard to increase the alternative option for women to protecting themselves from HIV/Aids infection," said Tissadee Sawangying, a coordinator of health and opportunity network.
She was speaking at the 12th National Aids Conference this week at Impact Muang Thong Thani Exhibition Centre.
She said female condom is also important for woman who has limitation over the use of male condom during sexual intercourse.
"Female condom could help woman to have more power to negotiate with their partner to have safe sex," she said
Nowadays, female condom is not popular to use for sexual activity among couples as it is difficult to use and not comfortable as it make distracting crinkling noises.
Female condoms have been available since 1988. The fist version was made from polyurethane known as FC Female Condom while a new version is made of nitrile rubber and called FC2.
