Pheu Thai attacks PAD for swallowing words
The People's Alliance for Democracy came under attack on Monday for backtracking on its words not to enter into politics by preparing to form a political party.
Pheu Thai Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit said
Sondhi Limthongkul had earlier announced at the Royal Plaza during his special talk show Muang Thai Rai Sapda on January 4, 2006 that if he entered into politics or accepted a ministerial post, he would allow men to spit on his face and women to remove their shoes and slap on his face.
He said other
PAD leaders such as
Chamlong Srimuang and
Suriyasai Katasila and Pipop Thongchai had also led political rallies against General Suchinda Kraprayoon accusing him of retracting his words to accept a prime minister post. Suchinda had said that he had “to lose his integrity for the country”.
“Today the
PAD leaders are doing the same thing by entering into politics for power and self interest,’’ Prompong said.
